Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR),
it is our distinct pleasure to invite you to submit an abstract
and attend ISSCRs inaugural Annual Meeting.
We are very excited to debut this program for the stem cell research
community, and sincerely hope you will be able to participate and
contribute to our international gathering of stem cell research
professionals.
During the meeting, we will have an opportunity to examine adult
stem cells and their ability to reconstitute tissues. This will
include studies of plasticity and tissue differentiation. In addition,
we will examine the ability of embryonic stem cells to efficiently
make cells of the particular organs.
This mix of topics should provide for a wonderful opportunity to
share ideas. ISSCR Annual Meeting participants are also invited
to attend the invitation-only General
Motors Cancer Research Foundation Annual Scientific Conference:
Stem Cells, to be held at NIH, June 10-11. Transportation
will be provided from the ISSCR hotel to NIH.
The ISSCR Annual Meeting follows the American Society of Gene Therapy
(ASGT) Meeting in Washington, so interested participants may attend
both events. For information on ASGT visit the ASGT Web site at
http://www.asgt.org.
Abstract Submission
You are encouraged to participate in the ISSCR meeting by submitting
an abstract for oral or poster presentation at the meeting. The
call
for proposals and electronic abstract submission are available
online. The abstract submission deadline is March 31, 2003
About ISSCR
This is the first official meeting of the International Society
for Stem Cell Research. The Society was formed in 2002 as a venue
for the exchange of ideas among investigators working on stem cells
in many different organ systems and models. ISSCR seeks to provide
information to the public and granting agencies regarding the biology
and potential use of stem cells. The Society also fosters discussion
of the ethical concerns of stem cells.

information page, or e-mail ISSCR headquarters at isscr@isscr.org.
Kindest regards,
Leonard I. Zon, M.D.
